Chilean born, New York raised.

Alex Valderana was born in Santiago, Chile and raised in Long Island, New York. A child of two worlds, he grew up with a creative spark that followed him throughout his life. As a young man, he attended Hofstra University and gained additional experience at Five Towns College.

In the summer of 2009, he directed a feature film in the fan film genre entitled “Batman: Hothouse” and used the momentum garnered to begin an ambitious webseries entitled “Nightwing: Escalation” in 2011, which ran 3 seasons and enabled Alex to work with over 40 actors and several different producers. As a casting director, he also cast horror film icon David Howard Thornton (Art the Clown, “Terrifier”) as The Joker in the show. In it’s third & final season, Alex opened the door to fellow producers to direct episodes throughout the season, including a 3-part all-woman mini-series “Catwoman: Ataraxia”, directed by actor Kristen Seavey.

Freelancing in New York City as a photographer, videographer and video editor, Alex eventually landed at HBO VICE in December 2017 and gained valuable experience cutting his teeth working on the Emmy Award nightly show VICE News Tonight. In September 2019, Alex found his way to Paramount and since then has worked on a number of properties for MTV, BET and Comedy Central. As video editor, he has edited material for Global Nomads, Global Citizen and just wrapped a year long stint as producer/editor for MTV International Digital. As a photographer, he has been published in Blaze Magazine, Cosplay Realm Magazine, HUSTLER (Oct. 2024) and has had work featured on Maxim.com. Alex is making his return to the world of narrative filmmaking as director with the upcoming thriller/sci-fi short “Disclosure”.
